One of the things I do with files like this is to open them up in a
virtual computer. I use VirtualPC and have a virtual system set up with
the basics -- Windows XP, Office 2003 -- and run things in there before
I run them on the main system. I've yet to find anything dangerous,
because most stuff gets nabbed by the anti-virus and anti-spyware
software, but it's a good precaution.

will make you aware of the dangers...
