You can't fight them militarily and win, as Iraq has proved.
Augh! Iraq isn't over yet; hence, you are premature in your statement of "proof". That's not what I read in the paper this weekend. Bush is starting to admit that they have bitten off more than they can chew. I am amazed that he has the humility to say so, but anyway... Looks like Bushy is starting to admit defeat (while trying to save as much face as he can). Here we go with the "instant-gratification" mindest. This is a 20- year effort (by my estimation) and may extend to the next three generations. Heh. We won't have any young men left in this country by then...except the illegal immigrants, whom Bush welcomes with open arms. What is it we were fighting for again...? WE haven't lost in Iraq by a long-shot. We have not yet achieved all of our goals, but I wouldn't say we are behind schedule either. See Bush's statements over the weekend. If you and the rest of the US don't have the stomach to see it through, then perhaps we have already lost. What have we lost? Iraq's oil? Who cares? We can, and should, still go after the terrorists where they lie - which is by all appearances NOT Iraq. However, the Bush administration seems to have the desire to see it through. We aren't leaving until the new Iraqi govt can stand on it's own. That would be a *great* success for that phase of the WOT. See weekend Bush statements. You can't go around invading countries, Yes we can, and we have. Bully. cause either they move next door (as in Afghanistan, they moved to Pakistan) or they run circles around our bureaucratic military (Iraq). This was not unexpected, rather, it was anticipated. We are learning from it, adapting our strategy and tactics to suit and are dealing with them whenever we encounter them. Yeah - we are copping out. See Bush's weekend statements. You haven't figured out anything. Though your propaganda scheme wouldn't hurt, the entire muslim world has lived with propaganda being drilled into them for so many generations that the marginal effectiveness of any propaganda campaign aimed at them would be questionable. It's probably marginally worth it, but I doubt anyone would rely on it for substantial results. The only people they pay any serious heed to are the imams and nopt the ones bought and paid for with US cash - they can tell the difference. If you can turn all the imams with broadcast propaganda, more power to you. But, if you understand who you are broadcasting that propaganda to, you would know that you will fail miserably. sigh This is probably true. There are only two ways to get rid of Islam enmity - (1) make honest friends with them, or (2) murder them all. Otherwise, we spend eternity fighting with 1,000,000,000 Muslims who believe us to be the devil incarnate. You just can't see past the DNC party line, can you? Do you *honestly* believe that the leadership of the U.S. wants to ahem, "turn America into a New Rome that will crush everybody, domestic and foreign, who opposes them"? Is that what you truly, honestly believe? If so, then there is little to be gained from engaging a nut-case in conversation. You would belong in the same category of peculiar folks who believe Clinton committed treason by selling technology to China. I don't think Bush really knows what he wants for America. but I am sure he knows what he wants for his millionaire buddies. To him, and to most pseudo-conservatives, that is the bottom line - business prospers at any cost...except its own. I think he is a short-sighted mental midget who values family first, money second and everything else a distant last. I don't think he is power-hungry, but I think that while he has it, he is willing to use it in whatever way he can to achieve these values. I am no seer, but I predict history will ultimately see him this way. Bruce Jensen |
