no problem. tried it again today. with much better results.
used fresh batteries instead of rechargeables. attached
wire antenna to the telescopic antenna. Using ATT and letting
the radio do searching for me. So it was a problem with the user
not the equipment.

Where are you using this radio? Is something in your surroundings
spoiling reception? Do you hear more on it if you take it outside? Does
the reel antenna help?
