What happened in your neck of the woods ??

[email protected] August 31st 05 01:55 AM

Hurricane Katrina blew down a lot of trees onto a lot of electric power
lines in the Jackson area. Some houses suffered mostly minor damage from
the wind. Some trees got blown down onto some houses.I went over to my
sister and brother in law's home this morning,a distance of about five
miles from my house.I think I counted at least sixteen trees that had
gotten blown down, but there are many, many more trees all over the
Jackson metro area that got blown down. Some cities and towns in South
Mississippi and Louisiana suffered the worst damage. It will be years and
years before things get back to normal. There are a lot of refugees in
Jackson and other cities and states who dont have a home to go back to.

Yeah, but something tells me that the jewelry or a PSP
will not come in so handy when they need food. That
sort of loot becomes an albatross when you need to
escape, and kicking everyone out of NO means that
they won't be able to hang onto their ill gotten wealth.

--Mike L.

They have been abandoned. They are scared and irrational.

Perfectly
human response for those who have no hope.

They have not been abandoned. A significant portion of
them chose to stay for whatever reason, and given the
lack of power and other items in NO, they are probably
not aware of how bad things are beyond the next day
or two.

Those who simply could not get out tried to go to safe
locations as best they could, and are making do as best
they can.

It also would not surprise me in the least that a portion of
the people who stayed decided to stay to see if they
could loot.

--Mike L.

I kind of feel sorry for those looters because they will probably die
because of lack of food. But it's their bad choice.

Looters and evil people weilding Brownies, apparently.

''Looters found despoiling the dead were summarily executed by the
militia - stood against the nearest wall or pile of debris and shot
without the hindrance of a trial. The same brutal justice was
delivered to amateur photographers. "Word received from Galveston
today indicates that Kodak fiends are being shot down like thieves.
Two, it is stated, were killed yesterday while taking pictures of nude
female bodies." (Dallas News, September 14, 1900.)''

(what kind of animals attack a children's hospital?)

"The Children`s Hospital in New Orleans has come under siege by
looters, the New Orleans Times Picayune reports. Late Tuesday, Gov.
Kathleen Blanco`s spokeswoman Denise Bottcher said the facility in the
city`s north end was being targeted, and people in the hospital were in
danger. "The staff are huddled with the 100 sick kids inside, waiting
for help to arrive as looters try to break in," she said. The director
of the hospital said police had been summoned, but neither they nor
National Guard responded.

Even a nursing home was targeted by looters, who took a bus and
threatened the driver and residents. The home plans to relocate
residents and its director said she's considering arming workers."

Bush may sign a Bill passed by both Houses of Congress into Law.
It is Congress (The House and Senate) that write the Bills;
and it is Congress that either puts the money in or took it out
for any Federal Funding.
.
RHF SOAP BOX TIME - More importantly :
Should not the City of New Orleans have built and repaired
its own Levees to Protect the Citizen of the City ?
Should not the State of Louisiana have built and repaired
it's the Levees around "The Major City in the State; and
Protect the Citizens of the State ?
Oh that is right - Everyone wants someone else to pay for something.
.
WHO PAYS - And Why Nothing Happen !
* The Governor of the State of Louisiana could have Called-Up
the Louisiana National Guard before the Storm Hit
- Did the Governor NO!
* The Governor of the State of Louisiana could have Called-Up
the Louisiana National Guard right after the Storm Hit
- Did the Governor NO!
* The Governor of the State of Louisiana could have Called-Up
the Louisiana National Guard when the Levees first broke
- Did the Governor NO!
* Why - Because if the Governor did the State would have to Pay
for the Guard.
* The Governor waited and waited and waited for the President
to Nationalize the Louisiana Guard so that the Federal
Government would have to pay for Guard.
.
WHO TAKES RESPONSIBILITY AND THE BLAME { And Why Nothing Happen ! }
* The Mayor of New Orleans could have Order the Police to
Shoot Looters - But Mayor never has done so.
* The Governor of the State of Louisiana could have Order
the Louisiana National Guard to Shoot Looters - But the
Governor never has done so.
* Why - Because neither the Mayor nor the Governor wants to
be Blamed for the Shooting and Killing of African-Americans
{Poor Black Folks}.
* Neither the Mayor nor the Governor wants to accused of an Act
of Racial Genocide against African-Americans {Poor Black Folks}.
* Both the Mayor and Governor were quite willing to wait and
wait and wait to let the President Do It (Give the Order to
Shoot Looters) and stand ready to call the President a Racist
against African-Americans and a Murder of Poor Black Folks.
.
WHY THE PEOPLE OF NEW ORLEANS ARE BEING SHIPPED OUT OF STATE.
* If they were simply being shipped within the State of Louisiana
then "The State" would have to bear the cost.
* However if they are shipped outside the State of Louisiana
to other nearby States then it is the Federal Government that
will be Paying-the-Bill for Everything for the next 100 Years.
.
WHY THE CITY OF NEW ORLEANS AND THE STATE OF LOUISIANA
ARE IN SUCH A MESS : {NEGLECT AND CORRUPTION}
* The City of New Orleans has been controlled by the
Democrat Party and it is a de-facto One-Party-Town with
all the Power and Corruption that comes from such a system
of One Party Rule.
* The greater problem is the State of Louisiana which has
been controlled by the Democrat Party and it is a de-facto
One-Party-State with all the Power and Corruption that comes
from such a system of One Party Rule.
* The Result is that of all the Major Cities in the South,
New Orleans has the reputation for being the most corrupt
and backward.
.
New Orleans : It ain't about Bush
- Its About the Money and the Blame !

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

You just hit the nail on the head. The dems dont want to
do anything proactive about problems, just assign blame afterwards.
