That isnt used much these days, especially in designated forests. This
probably does happen on Potlatch owned land though they dont leave a few
trees to reseed, the replant millions of new trees.

Softwood doesn't sink CO2 nearly as well as old hardwood.
Clearcutting makes deserts.
