Those cheap quality plug in the wall outlets (or with useing an
adapter/wall wart) Chinese radios are likely to burn your house down
too.

Why would anyone buy an electronic product directly from China in the
first place?...I am not sure how you would save any money buying a
degen from China, over a Kaito that are sold in North America...At
least if you bought it here you don't have to spend $40 to have it
shiped back to China for any warranty work if needed...

That's is because of the high mark-up. These cheap Chinese radios are sold
at or below cost.
The U.S. dealer can just toss it in the trash and send you a new one and
still hold a profit.
The Chinese simply want to muscle out all the competition in the low end
portables.

Get a Sony while you still can.
