Default Can twisted wire replace shielded wire?

Suppose,just suppose,you have your high end very high dollar Shortwave
Radio all hooked up and turned on and something happens to break your
antenna connection.Would that cause some damage to the Radio,especially
if the Radio is computer controlled?
