I bought the Kaito 1103, pretty much the same radio.
The Degen will most likely require you to use a voltage converter unless you
are
in an area that uses 220.

I never seriously considered in-radio recharging to be a serious option
because a full recharge takes 12 hours. The otherwise very portable
radio would have to sit in one place for half of a day. I find it much
easier to use 2 sets of NIMH batteries and a wall wart recharger.

Which is what I do most of the time. It's a lot more convenient.

I failed to mention in the previous post -- BE SURE TO GET THE CORRECT
POLARITY on the tip of any adapter you purchase.

The charge time depends of the mah rating of the batteries. If you get
some higher rating batteries, i.e. 2600 mah, it may take 17 hours or so
to charge.
