Default A Bit of Radio and WWII History - World War II RAF Gibson Girl...

I always liked those kites that spin like a wheel in the wind.During
World War Two in Switzerland, some of those people over there used Helium
filled Balloons to get their Antennas high up in the Air.They had large
homemade reels so they could let the Balloons (with the wire Antennas)
get high up into the air and when they were through using the Balloons
for a while, they would reel them back down to ground level and hide the
Balloons in their homes.
