A good place to buy any Degen Radio is from lipyn - here's a direct
link to the offering of the Degen 1103 - http://cgi.ebay.com/NIB-DE1103-SSB-S...cmdZVie wItem It looks like the total with shipping and the 110v adapter would be about $72.80. The only difference between the Degen and the Kaito is the hassle you would have to go through to get any warranty work done. They are both made at the same facility, and otherwise are the same product. I've ordered a Degen 1105 and a Degen DE-31 Active Loop Antenna from Liypn, and have been very happy with the transaction, plus both items arrives 3-4 days ahead of schedule. I also have a Kaito 1102 that I bought from a dealer north of St. Paul, MN, but I paid twice for that what you would for an 1103 from liypn. The 1102 is a wonderful radio, but has drawbacks if you like to use SSB a lot (only works on page 9, but that's not a problem with the 1103). In addition, you wouldn't necessarily need to order the 220/110 adapter initially. I use 2500mah NiMH rechargeable on all my portables and they work great, plus I don't have to deal with excess Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) that is produced by some wall plug in's. The only problem that you'll run into with using NiMH batteries is if you have a batter hog, like my Sangean Super 909. I made an external battery pack for that one, but that won't be the case with a Degen 1103. Hope some of this information has helped! I wouldn't hesitate to go with a Degen.
