Well, now I have 6 Minimus-7's, 5 with basically zero foam surround left and one that's just on the verge of falling into pieces. I gotta learn how to fix these foam surrounds! Either that or buy some brand new drivers. Tim. Look in your phone book for "speaker repair." The foam disintegrating happens a lot in dry climates, and if the voice coils aren't too abraded, they can be replaced by a speaker repair tech. The voice coils get abraded by using the speaker as the foam is disintegrating, and they wear against the surrounding magnet and frame. It's ozone. The surrounds go to Hell in Houston as well. Of course in Houston they're two thirds of the way there already. : ) |
