Keep in mind that you will be stuck with that cheap radio for a long time as
they have Zero resale value. "Nathan Bates" wrote in message ... Many Thanks to the group for all the good advice. Im researching it all closely on the net, but I imagine it will end up being the Kaito 1103 as Id like to get the most frequency coverage for the money. It also has the sideband feature, which I know nothing abut apart from CB radio, but am learning about it. I like to pick up all the stations I can. I even once built a rig using the yoke from the back of an old TV picture tube attached to a cheap audio amplifier (like a "super ear" or some such) and could pick up some kind of beacon loud and clear. Interesting as it cost next to nothing to make. I like the Kaito, but will also probably pick up an old used heavy rig, something like an old Realistic SW-100 just for nostalgia ![]() Again, many thanks! Nathan |
