The major plus is that it's quite sensitive. I don't particularly care for all of the images on this set. As far as this type of radio (analog w/digital readout) goes, I prefer my ol' Panasonic RF-2600 and 2900 (admittedly these two models, as well, suffer from some image problems). The S350 is excellent on batteries. By and large, the audio is pretty decent on the S350, although mine rarely remains stationary on a SW frequency for long. I do use the S350 a lot for FM listening, for which it's fairly decent. This thing seems to have been designed for those who have some nostalgia for old portables like the two Panasonics mentioned above. Would an 11 year old go for it? I honestly don't have any idea.
