Thanks for sharing your experience with us, even though you've had to endure
a lot of "hindsight advice". It's a lesson for all of us. John "Bob" wrote in message ... Well Yes!! If you know about them, and their prices are competitive, sure! Why not? I also found an Ebay seller from Canada selling the radio which would allow me to avoid all the importation BS and I think I could pick it up right at his home, but I did not see that until after I had committed to buying from the first seller. As I said earlier, I simply bid in to much haste and have only myself to blame. I did a bad deal on ebay, but took my whoopin' like a man, or maybe a
wuss. Basically, if you agree to the deal, you do it, even if you screw up. In my case, it was some used electronics gear that I thought was a slightly different model (same manufacturer). It was my fault, and thus I was obligated to finish the transaction. However, I have been screwed by jerks selling gear that wasn't functioning well. The worse is some asshole who is "selling the item for a friend." Now I email every seller to see if they actually have seen the gear do what they claim it does, not what somebody told them it does. I've managed to get my money back, but lost on shipping in one case. The good news is there are asshole buyers out there too. I've talked to sellers at local flea markets that have stopped selling on ebay since some ebay buyer would break the gear then demand a refund, or steal items out of the unit (say a module "option" on HP test gear), then say the unit is defective. You can generally get better deals if you do them face to face. Jim Hackett wrote: Not trying to rub salt into your wounds but I would have just refused to pay it and taken the negative...
