I've always had this feeling.

Dear Mike,

My ATS-808A (purchased in 1997) and my ATS-606AP (purchased in 1998)
were both made in Taiwan. My CC Radio (made in China) was purchased in
2003. Poorly made all.

It's quite possible that in seventeen years Sangean's quality has gone
down. Certainly that has been my experience.

I personally will never again buy any Sangean radio.
