I have a sick Sony ICF-2010. I hadn't used it for several years and when I
tried it recently, I got stations but the sensitivity didn't seem up to par. I replaced the front end FET to no effect. When I try the SYNC function to lock in a signal, the signal distorts and does not synch. Any ideas? I was going to offer it on E-Bay but I hate to sell an "as-is"unit that is not working properly. If you're looking to repair, then I'd suggest you visit the Yahoo '2010
group. There's a group member by the name of Noel who does repair work on the '2010. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/icf2010/ |

I can vouch for Noel Ramos. I had him fix my SW-77 (which isn't even his
specialty) and was impressed with the speed, quality and price... "junius" wrote in message oups.com... If you're looking to repair, then I'd suggest you visit the Yahoo '2010 group. Ray has fixed and tupgraded two ICF-2010 radios for me and he is super.
I bought a used SW100S from Noel and he was great to deal with. Either would be a great choice. There are so many things to love about the ICF-2010, I don't think you can go wrong fixing it. I use mine almost exclusively for AM/FM broadcast listening, but it is nice to have the air and sw bands available. It really shines in sw broadcast. For ham listening, I prefer hf tranceivers or the Eton E1 or Drake R8B. My two cents plus a couple pennies too many. Barry WT7T |
