Don't believe it. They are 50 years old and need a lot of work to be
reliable. If they don't have all of the coupling capacitors replaced
you will be buying a lot of tubes.

One other problem that I found to be fairly common with these sets is
dirty contacts on the "line plug operated" switch that transfers between
AC and battery operation.
