Hi all,
I am helping the widow of silent key vk3amh in australia who is in possession of one of these sets, ie the portable transmitting and receiving equipment and power supply, housed in very stout metal boxes complete with lids (I believe these are parachute drop cases). There is also an old manual entitled "Description and Operating Instructions for Set Serial No. 45127", and a little morse code key I believe should be in the box but at some time was replaced by a more "modern" morse key. Inside the front cover of the instruction manual the first page has been cut out, and on the second one there is a rubber stamp (six-sided) with RCD 1 and underneath that the figures 27. There is also a date stamp - 7 Nov 1944. Could you advise me on a couple of things. Firstly could you give me a estimate of the value of such an item (based on the images) and secondly, the best forum in which to put it up for sale. I believe it is a collector's item and I would look to get pictures of all the items prior to presenting it for sale in its current state. I dont seem to be able to upload photos into the forum. They can be found at http://www.flickr.com/photos/91717622@N00/ **UPDATE** Photos now include the little morse key and pages from the manual. ** UPDATE 23NOV10 ** Additional pictures showing more detail can be found at http://www.flickr.com/photos/9171762...7625445361594/ Would appreciate expressions of interest on the set prior to it being offered for auction. ** UPDATE 8JAN11 ** Additional pictures of the containers. Rust showing on items is superficial, there no 'rusted thru' parts to on any sides. They are in excellent condition for restoration. http://www.flickr.com/photos/91717622@N00/?saved=1 Thanking you in advance CJ Last edited by AussieCJ : January 8th 11 at 09:00 AM Reason: More detailed photos included |

The clandestine radio guru is Jon Paul at Scientific Conversions and he would be the first person I'd contact. If anyone knows what it is and what it's worth, it would be him. 2. You cannot upload photos because this is Usenet, not some kind of web forum. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis." |
