I have just published an article on www.radiointel.com on taking the
satellit 800 to the next level of performance. now the 800 can be considered to be a better radio than the venerable satellit 600/650 !!!! I have replaced the speaker on the 800 with a higher end car speaker and the sound is out of this world. read it for yourself at http://www.radiointel.com/ |

GA,
Everything you say is true. BUT - All Things Being Equal. - Grundig Satellit 800M with old speaker. (One Way) - - Grundig Satellit 800M modified with New Speaker. (Two Way & Cross-Over) - - - Both speakers driven at the same audio levels. - - - - By the same sound source. IMHO: The Audio Profile of the New Speaker should make a 'marked improvement' of the overall Sound Quality of the GS800M to the average listener at normal listening levels. The New Speaker should work especially well at higher Volume Levels when the old speaker would start to evidence some audio distortion. wmcis ~ RHF .. .. = = = (Gary) = = = wrote in message . com... First, this will void the factory warranty, so be sure your warranty has expired before making any modifications. Second, the 600/650 had a 15 watt amp (30 watts peak) as I recall, and the 800 only a 2 watt amp. I opted to add my "old" computer speakers to my 800 as external speakers giving me an Altec Lansing self-powered 8-inch woofer and two small stereo speakers. Outstanding bass and no modification. Superior sound compared to the 600/650. I, too, was a little disappointed in the cheap speaker used in the 800. |

well, since I almost never buy anything new I don't care about warranties and
it is really hard to carry computer speakers to the back yard A few comments..................
