Default How am I programming Pro96 wrong

I recently moved to Clarksville TN and found that I couldn't hear most of
the agencies here with my old non-trunking scanner. So, I bougt a Pro-96
digital trunk tracking scanner and just got it home tonight. I've looked up
the local frequencies on the net and found that local PD is on a digital
"EDACS Pro Voice Wide Area" net that they purchased 2 yrs ago.

I programed in the 8 frequencies that they use (in order) taking care not
program into channel 00. I scanned the bank in EDAC open mode, but I'm not
hearing anything. If I walk thru the channels manually, I hear the data
channel on frequency 6, and short quick static bursts of digital
transmissions on the other channels. Switching mode to Motorola to see if
my sources were wrong only lets my scanner freeze on the data channel like a
non-trunking scanner. Did I forget to do something, or does it sound like
my town is scrambling their transmissions?

I haven't programmed in all the stuff I want to, and I haven't programmed in
any talkgroup IDs yet--I got the Win96 software (I'm still in the free trial
period), but it won't communicate. I'm set to COM1 using the only serial
port on my computer. I run Windows XP Home Editon with Service Pack 2.
This is turning into a terrible night!!!
