I hear ya! This is in PA. Tonight is a meeting, will see "IF" anything new
has been heard. Frankly I doubt it and if not, am going to suggest cancelling that service in the future, so we don't get shafted again and left in the dark. NS "Ronny Julian" wrote in message ... The ARES group I'm with donated a good tower to the city. It's being put up soon and will house both ARES and city equipment. These city fathers are damn fools if they don't take advantage of the photo ops that such a cooperation brings. What state is this in? "NO SPAM" wrote in message rio.net... I got ya! No problem. Was just emphasizing the Comms officer did their job. Just still ticked, the PS agency is the one who is having to do all the calling. The 2 way shop should be keeping the PS agency up to date with the situation. I agree to with what you are saying about the other towers laying around or employing hams, which I know damned well they won't do. It isn't "professional" in their book. Not any less professional than keeping your customers on hold and in limbo. They're not doing their part to let anyone know the status other than "WE DON'T KNOW". Not good enough............... NS "Ronny Julian" wrote in message ... Please reread what I wrote. If there is a backup system in place then this comms officer HAS done the job. Damn I hate it when people do not read/listen to what is being said and go off in a whole other direction! If the backup system is in place then time is on your side. Seems like the company knows this too but I have no idea why they would drag their feet. Seems like the perfect way to kill a company. Why not enlist the help of some local ham operators and exchange labor for repeater/antenna space? I bet with all the horizontal Rohn 25 guarding Americas back yard weeds there are 5 sticks to be had for little $. "NO SPAM" wrote in message erio.net... There is a system in place but it just seems odd that the 2 way radio company came the same week - actually 2 days later of the problem being found and called in - to view the damage and to place the order for a new tower and see what else may need done, and here almost a month later, it's not done. The Comms officer isn't at fault there, it is the company who is doing the damned job. They are only one of a couple in the area that can do it. I doubt they'll be called upon "first" again for anything. They "were" a reputable company utilized by many agencies but it seems their work is going to crap. Time to start shopping for a new 2 way Comms company. What is worse, is they've given different answers as to a date for completion. A couple days, a week to - who knows? Not very reliable answers. This isn't a 100 or more foot tower we're talking. Just a lousy 40' tower. Most places - I thought - stocked them, at least at one time. They were standard for hams, cber's, tv antennas. I can't wait to see how it all ends. The Comms officer called the problem in immediately to the place they've always utilized. He could not have foreseen this problem, for it to have been his fault. And he has called once a week for updates. N S "Ronny Julian" wrote in message ... Could be any of those reasons. Does this Pubic safety agency have a sound backup until this is installed? If not I'd be looking for a new comms officer! Depending on where you live overcoming a 40' rise over average terrain is not any big deal. Is there a mountaintop within a few miles? "NO SPAM" wrote in message erio.net... If one were to order a tower, lets say 40' for use in a 2 way radio situation, how long should it take from the time you place the order to the time you get it? I know a place who's tower blew over (it was old too) and a replacement was ordered the same week. Almost a month later, they're still waiting for the 2 way radio company to deliver and replace. This is a public service agency which depends on their communications. Seems odd, the company doing the work seems to be putting them off. Or is it whoever they're ordering from, sucks with supplying? Just curious. NS |

Nope, wasn't/isn't in Pottsville. The last contact the company gave those
in waiting was the tower was damaged in shipping, and a new one to arrive last week. Last week came and went. Still no contact. They have been keeping the agency in the dark. The agency has had to make the majority of the calls. The one call made by the company was to "return" a call. The spokesman for the agency was told the other day to call them back and tell them if the tower wasn't delivered this week, another company will be sought for that and all other work in the future. One other company was contacted in the mean time and said they could have had a tower in 5 days delivered by their supplier - who was contacted to verify quick shipment, as there were NO shipping problems or delays EVEN with the hurricanes and such as was thought "may" have been the case. So, we'll see now how things progress. Sounds like this 2 way radio company may have just lost some business. Being one of 3 in the area, that doesn't bode well for them. The other 2 have pretty decent reputations. This one "had" one, but I think it just went down the tubes, at least with this agency. Not sure how they treat their other customers. And I will go one more step to say, it isn't that this agency can't afford to pay, they can. The agency has done thousands of dollars of business with this company in the past. So, the fault falls back on the company. They've apparently dropped the ball. I have to wonder if the statement of the tower being damaged in shipment was just an excuse to buy time - in that they may have forgot to order, financially unable to, OR just plain DIDN'T for whatever other reason. All they've offered were EXCUSES. This week, a few days, We don't know, etc. What a crock. NS "Michael Bohannon" wrote in message ... Is this In Pottsville ?? "NO SPAM" wrote in message erio.net...
