I have a Kenwood TK-980 800 Mhz mobile and a TK-760 high-band mobile. According
to a webpage I visited, I can program these radios through their front panels without using a computer by pressing one of the buttons while powering up the radio to put it into the program mode. This procedure will not work for me. Do I need to use a computer or not? The website says that the up/down channel buttons on the radio are used to program the frequencies, but none of this works for me. Also, is anyone interested in swapping a UHF mobile for one of these Kenwoods? |

I believe that you can put the radio into program mode, as you described, but you still need a computer and Kenwood programming software and interface cable to make any program changes/additions.
