Hi Gary,

I own an Icom 746Pro, and I like it very much. I'm not a
contester or a "big gun" DXer, just a regular Joe. I work
almost entirely CW. The 746Pro's DSP system works really
well. The filtering is excellent, the noise reduction and
notch filtering are a Godsend, the big LCD is easy to read,
and I use the Band Scope function constantly (something I
thought was a useless "fluff" item when I was shopping for
a new rig!). I have no experience with the other two on
your list, so I can't offer a comparison. For the price,
I think the 746Pro is one of the best buys in an HF+VHF
rig on the market right now.

I have made the trip to the local Ham Store and after viewing all the
rigs that they had on the shelves I have limited my choice down to the
following three rigs listed below.

If there are any owners of the Radios listed I would love to have your
input about your radio and would you buy the same again? Also, if
there is a person, I would appreciate hearing from someone that has
owned one, two or three of the radios listed and how you would compare
the lot based upon your operating experience. Also if you had a

I have obtained my impressions of each by listening at the controls of
each and while two have VHF and one VHF & UHF while the last is HF only

While I am not going to be making a decision for a while I cherish any
input from current or past owners on their experiences.
