Default for sale by non dealer due to tax disaster

A tax disaster is when the morons at the federal retirement agency
neglect to take out any state tax and I end up owing $8000.00. Cleaned
me out and then some. So the radios that were going to keep me happily
occupied fixing up during my retirement years now must go to keep the
tax man from kicking in my door. And never think they wont.

Never heard of any Federal retirement system that was supposed to take
out local state taxes. For that matter, State systems don't do that
either, if you retire to another state. Shoulda known that.

Well you are dead wrong. I finally got them to do it after nearly a
year of trying.

According to the Federal Retirement website, I am not wrong. They do
not automatically deduct your State taxes. You apparently referred to
them as morons for not doing that. You must contact them and advise
them of the amount, (which you apparently have now done).

I didn't mean to be mean-spirited in my reply to you, but it is
difficult for me to understand how someone wouldn't look at their
retirement deposit information and note that no state income tax was
being withheld. I was in the same boat, but caught it in time.

Oops! My very sincere appologies to you!!!!

I didn't note that you had been trying to do this for a year. Yes,
they are morons (generally we call them Bureauocrats) in the Federal
Government for taking so long.
Never-the-less ,,, why didn't you make quarterly payments to the
State while waiting on a response from the Feds? That's what saved us
from your situation.

They took out over $30,000.00 in taxes and I thought that covered it
all. That's what I get for thinking. This wasn't the only thing they
messed up. They told me I couldn't get my thrift saving out untill I
turned 59 1/2 without a 10% penalty. Wrong! that only applies if you
retire before age 55. So I waited 1 1/2 years for my money and had to
borrow money to buy my property in Arkansas and pay all the bank fees
and interest for that period rather than pay cash for it. These people
cost me thousands of dollars. If I had run my computer center as
poorly as they run thier shop it would have cost the taxpayers
millions. Most government employees do a fine job and earn thier pay.

That sucks. I'll be extra careful of the Feds in future dealings as I
have similar actions coming up in a year or two.
