"Bob Schmidt" wrote in message om... I am mounting an Outbacker on the rear hatch (side) of my Grand Cherokee using the Diamond K400 trunk lip mount. I have a Hustler spring I was going to us on it, but wonder what opinions are about how necessary that is? TNX Bob, WA9JDR Bob, If you can avoid it, I would advise against it. One thing, they allow the antenna to flop around in the breeze and SWR varies wildly reducing your antenna's overall effec- tiveness. And, next, springs *can* cause mysterious noise in your receiver, particularly as the wire braid deteriorates. Unless you *really* gotta have the spring, I would leave it off. 73 Jerry K4KWH |
