Take a piece of wire, divide the frequency you want to operate on in MHz in
to 468, cut the wire to this length in feet. Divide it into two pieces and
put a center and 2 end insulators on it. Connect the coax, braid to one wire
and the center conductor to the other.

Invest the money you just saved in an amateur radio handbook.
