Tandy was bought by Dick Smith electronics so I can't go back and ask.

The elements are stainless steel hollow tubes;
4.80mm OD x 81cm(approx) long.


I have never seen the thin walled stainless tubing you refer to in metals
outlets in Australia. You could try model shops... but I doubt it.

Why couldn't you just get some 3/16" stainless steel rod? It is probably a
brass hub, so you could probably use 3/16" brass rod equally well.
