Default Antenna analyzers, opinions please...

This request from last year did not garner many specifics other than that
one should be aware of disturbances from other stations when using most
available instruments. One mention of the AIM 4170 was made by K6MHE and
the use of a GR bridge was mentioned by several including Walt.

If might be interesting to several to learn what K1PO ended up using.

While I have a GR bridge and the CIA hand held meter, I have found the AIM
4170 to be ideal. It ends up being used for several tasks and has not been
disturbed by RF from others when connected to an antenna. Its ability to
characterize a crystal is great - especially to someone who has done it the
old way. This evening, I confirmed that one can use it to characterize a
piece of coax for velocity, Zo, and (matched) loss. . . . and it is very
easy to store the Z vs. frequency for latter comparison. . .

Another data point. 73, Mac N8TT

Antenna Newsgroup Denizens:

Apart from the professional 'lab grade' (and undoubtedly very expensive)
devices made by the likes of Agilent, there are on the amateur market
several antenna analyzers that are more reasonably priced.

I'm currently considering the purchase of such a device, and so...

I'm interested in hearing opinions, pro-con arguments, and/or receiving
pointers to reviews of such devices.

All thoughts and comments will be appreciated, unbiased or not.

Thanks!
