Battery question???
Sorry to inform you Rick that this is not BS.
The firedepartment in Ontario Canada (Ontario Canada, possibly now one of the biggest big brother hands held nanny state on the planet now, most expensive anyway. Other than Greece of course). But, this is what our fire deptartment is doing. Now our firedept has an average income of more than $100,000.00 Canadian Dollars, so in my opinion I am happy to see them out there proactively doing something otherwise they sit in Starbucks or in their theater at the station stirring chilly pots and watching blue movies and sleeping. At least they are out there being proactive. But they are costing us huge and we must borrow it all. No B.S. there Rick. $400,000,000,000.00 U.S. dollars we owe becuase of this big brother left wing nanny state hold our hands government. Problem is 100,000 public students are now being horribly abused and used as hostages now because the public union teachers are wanting what the fireplugs get, and the police and sewer workers are all sharpening their axes because the strikes and riots are about to begin. Same as Greece and Detroit. These are unnanounced visits, inspections and no warrant or no appointment is necessary. And if they find anything else like grow operations or gas dryer not to their liking, yes, flags will be issued. So on one hand at least they are doing something. But on the other hand, what will Ontario be like in another 15 years? I just saw the biggest exodous of private employers in my life in the last 15 years because of this huge bungling government. More than a 2 million jobs lost in the private in the last decade. Far more than 2 million, in Ontario alone. This is why more than 80% of an employee's income now in Ontario Canada must be returned to the government in one form or another. Some economists say it is more like 85%. And it isn't BS, it is real. So I say our fire chiefs are taking bribes from big business to force these money making inspections and sales. You folks down south can continue to use your 20 year old American built solid products and we are forced to replace those with the cheap Chinese crap. So are we replacing working units with working units? For what? Some beurocrats with nothing else to do but dream this stuff up? And another thing Rick, when you visit our doctors, our govt controlled doctors, you will always be given a precription from a company that the last salesman who visited that doctor's office from that drug company. Big business. We swallow more pharmacutical giant's products for no reasons than anywhere else on the planet. Even America. So big business and incompetent greedy union left wing governments are forcing me to do these things that are not necessary. There are 80,000 houses in my city, lots of opportunity for profit and bribes to be made. But also lots of opportunity to find grow houses, meth labs in homes, hostages in homes, whatever the government wants to find in your own home, they now have a right to enter it without warrants and search and report. Without notice. No BS. there Rick. What part do you think I am making up? So I think the battery technology is there and affordable for me to put a longer lasting deep cycle lead acid battery in my boat. But a battery dealer would be crazy to make a lifetime battery when they know I will own a boat my lifetime. Our government wont allow the better quality more efficient, cheaper and lighter and smaller solar panels into Canada because we have solar panal manufactures making them here at a huge costs to the people, in partnership and subsidized by the taxpayer, so the systems are not affordable. Because of their beauracracy. So why cannot I buy the better and cheaper and more efficient solar panals? Like the ones on the Philae Comet Rover? The technology has been there for a decade, but I cannot buy a solar panel that is as efficient as the ones you folks send up on the satelites. I cannot buy those ones on a freemarket, I must buy the ones my government tells me to buy, made in Ontario and 10 times the costs and half as efficient. Which reminds me, I am doing a solar panal installation here soon, I am NOT using any batteries or inverters, I want to run them directly to my electric floor heaters so that when the sun shines I get free heat. I am going to be asking you folks a lot of questions for sure on this project. What do you think the firedept will say about this system? Big flag? Tear it down? I have to smuggle in the best solar panals. Like I did with the Carbon Monoxide Detectors and Smoke Detectors. Cheers gents and thanks, sorry for the long rant. 73s "rickman" wrote in message ... On 6/14/2015 3:32 PM, Tom wrote: Thanks all, My idea was the push or the big brother (in receivith of a bribith) to force us here in Ontario to change our smoke detectors every 5 years. It may even be so written into the insurance laws (or fine print on page 62 on bottom of incurance form) (in japanese) that the insurance company will not pay out in the event of fire and your detectors are out of date according to the provincial code. The insurance agents always inspect for cause to back out. But what is happening in Ontario (in my city now) is the fire department going door to door inspecting. Now get this. If you do not have a Carbon Monoxide Tester on Every floor and IN Garage (if attached) then they cannot leave until you do. Now they will sell you them off their truck and it is $41.00 Canadian each. I know this because they are in my friend's neighborhood and he has single floor and was forced to buy one. $41.00 on the spot. Now, he gave me name and model number and exact same one can be shipped to your door from the Ebay or Amazon for $12.00 Canadian. Smoke detectors as well. Our big brother nanny state, the now most expensive on the planet, is growing at an alarming rate and I could tell you a hundred more ridiculous and expensive stupidity my govt is doing but this is an idea. So why would a Deep Cycle Battery Manufacturer make a batter last longer than time frame that they couldn't calculate within their projected income reports? I mean you own a boat. And why would a Smoke Detector Company manufacture you a detector that would last the lifetime of the home? It wouldn't be prudent. You don't think that the big pharma companies are counting on our big brother health care team of doctors here in Ontario to continue pushing big pharma pills and keeping the people swallowing these pills at an alarming rate? We have a prescription pill for everything today and our insurance govt regulated and created companies pay for it all, after borrowing of course etc etc. Same ole same ole. I guarantee the pharma giants are banking on us swallowing hand fills of their hugely profitable pills for decades and quarters to come. I mean how do you stop a 2 trillion per year industry. Answer, you don't. Thanks boys, sorry about the long wind, love what I learned about smoke detectors. Thanks. But here in Ontario, the need for replacement is different than your need down south. It is not solely how much value or price you would put on your families head. A Huge waste factor is there. That is the scare marketing the teams will use. And use successfully. I've never read so much BS in my life. -- Rick |

The first, if true, is a great move by the insurance companies. They won't pay any more than they absolutely have to based on interpretation of the policy and they know it forward and backward while you don't. But to hand them an excuse to not pay because of a bad smoke or CO detector is absurd. These detectors have nothing to do with the fire starting or in any way cause the problem, so why make the insurance company the beneficiary? Then with the firemen not leaving until you install a smoke detector, I'm picturing a bunch of firemen sitting in my living room watching TV and using my WiFi to surf the web because I am waiting for delivery of a CO detector from China. lol I just hope the law doesn't make you feed them! -- Rick |

You are absolutely right Rickman, it is so important today to understand the
complete contract between you and your insurance company, they spend most efforts today looking for ways to get out of paying out and reward their people when they do with bonus. I have had my insurance rep come to the house 2 times already for advice. I have a wood stove and that really has codes that have been changed. Yes, we are dealing with the biggest growth of a government union base and their ways and it is simply incredible. Not to mention bankrupting. Thanks Gents, enjoyed every second of it. It actually makes sense. Smoke detectors can cause a fire to be detected earlier. The earlier the detection, the less damage and fewer lives lost - which means the insurance company pays less. You need to check your policy. Some insurance companies (at least used to before smoke detectors were generally required) have a discount if you have smoke detectors installed. But if you take advantage of the discount, your insurance may be void if your smoke detector is not installed or working properly (i.e. dead battery, out of date, etc.). It's all Life Safety issues - and therefore tightly regulated, even in the United States. Our government just doesn't (thankfully) go as far as Ontario does. -- ================== Remove the "x" from my email address Jerry, AI0K ================== |
