Ken,
Think helical. Several years ago I made a 40 meter J-pole using twin lead. Wound it around 10 ft. of 1" PVC pipe. Worked well for field day, signal strengths comparable to those from a full sized dipole... but with the advantage of being omni-directional. Get some 4" or 6" PVC sewer pipe and do the math for length. Should be interesting. Hmm, think I'll go visit Radio Shack soon! 73, Dale NJ7C |

Hmmmmm, 6 dBi omni-directional gain - quite impressive - usually requires a phased array. -- 73, Cecil http://www.qsl.net/w5dxp -----= Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News =----- http://www.newsfeeds.com - The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! -----== Over 100,000 Newsgroups - 19 Different Servers! =----- |

William, As long as the FAA and NASA don't object, and you have the money to pay for it, there is no maximum height for amateur antennas. There is a practical one, though. Who would you get to climb it to change the lights when they burned out? 'Doc |
