/////////////////////////////////////////// iHeart To Launch 93.7 The River Sacramento Posted: 24 Mar 2017 02:05 PM PDT http://radioinsight.com/headlines/11...er-sacramento/ From RadioInsight iHeartMedia will be dropping Variety Hits on 93.7 Jack-FM KQJK Roseville/Sacramento CA in favor of some form of Rock as 93.7 The River in early April. As announced in a meeting to the staff today, the new format will feature an on-air lineup of names familiar to the market and all recently working at Entercoms cluster. The Dog and Joe Show hosted by Craig The Dog Faced Boy and Joe Maumee and until recently in afternoons at Active Rock 98 Rock 98.5 KRXQ will host mornings. Monica Lowe, longtime DJ at 100.5 KQPT/KZZO, and for the past eight years working in Creative Services for Entercom Sacramento will host middays. Derek Moore, former night host at Classic Rock Eagle 96.9 KSEG and APD at Sports ESPN 1320 KCTC, will host afternoons and serve as Digital Program Director for iHeartMedia Sacramento. The syndicated Sixx Sense will be heard at night. KQJK ranked twelfth in the Sacramento market with a 3.2 share in the February 2017 Nielsen Audio ratings. The new format will position it up against Entercoms combo of Classic Rock KSEG with its 7.5 share and Rock KRXQ with its 4.1 share. The addition of former Entercom staff should not come as a surprise as iHeartMedia Sacramento SVP/Programming Curtiss Johnson previously spent two decades programming the aforementioned KRXQ and KSEG. What talent! Im so excited to be on @937theriver on afternoon drive, 3-7p. @DogandJoeShow mornings, Monica Lowe, middays. Positioning itself between iHeartMedia CHR 97.3 Kiss-FM WAEV and AC 98.7 The River WYKZ, the move brings the frequency close to its longtime heritage as CHR Z102. The syndicated Bert Show will be added for mornings. Since losing its position as the dominant CHR to WAEV in the early 2000s and flipping to Hot AC in 2008, WZAT has jumped from one low-rated Cumulus initiative to another. It flipped to Sports in 2010 and was one of the original Nash Icon stations upon that launch in 2014. KQFO has dropped its three-month old Classic Rock Oz 100.1 identity for Variety Hits as Bob 100.1. The station was previously AAA Oasis 100.1 from February through December 2016. Despite what the Envision Networks press release below and other sites state, KQFO serves the Tri-Cities of Kennewick/Richland/Pasco and not Yakima. Envision Networks® and Kroeger Media Inc. are excited to welcome Alexandra Communications, Inc.’s KQFO-FM/Yakima as the latest station to join the BOB FM™ family. With the launch of BOB 100.1, the station joins over 125 affiliates on the Envision 24/7 Network. You may know BOB FM™ as the original template from which the entire “name” formats originated including BOB’s little brothers HANK FM® and DUKE FM®, the country variety-based format that is also syndicated by Envision Radio Networks®. BOB FM™ was the first Variety/Adult Hits based format of its kind to launch in North America. With a song library consisting of over 1100 titles that is made up of rock, pop and adult contemporary music, BOB’s unique mix is best described as one big mix tape for adult listeners who are too young to be considered full-fledged baby boomers and too old to be considered as part of generation X. Beyond the music, the BOB FM™ brand is known for its out of the box presentation where the station becomes a personality and listeners are on a first name basis with their favorite radio station. BOB FM™ offers three levels of programming service for both cash and barter and accommodates stations that are looking for a complete turnkey, 24/7 solution.
