I'm writing in regards to the FCC's Emergency Alert System. I am a hobbyist trying to set up a system to listen for EAS broadcasts in my area, but although I've read over the documentation on the matter (11.31, 47CFR)*, I can't figure out what the frequency to listen on should be. Can anyone offer any guidance on the subject? All broadcast stations are required to originate a Required Weekly Test (RWT). They are also required to relay a Required Monthly Test (RMT) that originates elsewhere. Many stations voluntarily air other alerts (usually weather-related) but are not required to do so. Your local NOAA weather radio (162.4-162.55MHz) also carries these, as well as EAS broadcasts of severe weather watches and warnings. -- Doug Smith W9WI Pleasant View (Nashville), TN EM66 http://www.w9wi.com |
