About a mile on the ground. This distance increases if you are on a big hill or
on top of a tall building. UHF is line of sight. (Think flashlight).

I do mean _ANY_. Don't believe that 7 mile BS on the package.

No. CB is noisy and full of foul language (on standard AM, sideband ops are much better).
MURS equipment is hard to come by, but is 2 watt FM with external antennas.

Don't let Stew (Horseshoe7) fill you full of BS. FRS does what it's supposed to do:
A short range communication device. For some it's all they need...
