Waha. I'd rather stay, thanks. So anyway, 40 or 80 channels?

26.965-27.405. 4 watts AM, 12 watts pep SSB. Any other operation is illegal.

Hi.

Don't mind the unhelpful responses... some people on this group seem to be
anti-CB while others are too scared to fall in a Troll trap.

In America, there are 40 *legal* channels. On these channels you may either
use AM or SSB.
As each channel can either hold one AM conversation or two SSB
conversations, this means that you could effectively have 80 SSB channels.
The frequencies covered are as you give above, and power is limited to
4Watts (plus 2Watts mod) for AM and 12Watts for SSB. As well as higher
power allowed, SSB is more efficient - giving you a much greater distance.

However, the 80 channel radios you have seen are more likely to be 40 legal
channels plus another 40 illegal ones. Any CB designed to cover illegal
channels is illegal to use - even if using it on legal channels.
It is up to you how you feel about the law, but you should be aware that the
punishment can be strict for those caught using illegal CBs.

Here in the UK, we have 80 channels, FM mode only. 80 channel sets were
made legal a few years back, but only those manufactured and approved as
such. Power in the UK is limited to 4Watts.

If you want more information, don't be afraid to ask and don't be frightened
off by the attitude of some idiots on this newsgroup - CBers are generally
friendly and helpful.

Regards,

Peter.

exend to 32 mhz with tons of channels to use...all he has to do is buy
the ten meter radio setup and he is in the game....

hi, i'm new to CB radio... How many channels

are there?

40 on cb.

It looks as if there are 40 channels, but i see

some cb radios advertised that can go to

ch.80... what gives?

Do you have an example of such a cb and a specific website in mind? A cb
touted as having 80 channels? Highly doubtful, but since you have
specifically provided for the example, please now cite the webpage where
you saw this cb touted as 80 channel.

Any website i visit says the legal frequency

range is from 26.965 to 27.405 MHz, and ch

40 IS 27.405 so it doesn't make sense to have
another 40 channels present.

Help meeee!

Really? Again,, which websites have you visited?
Speed limits only go to 70 MPH in the US. According to your logic, it
makes no sense they go faster. Consider yourself helped, unless the
analogy is lost on you. No cb is manufactured for sale in the US with
more than 40 channels.

I don't know...AM i guess. What's SSB?
Single Side Band. I'm done advising you now

Fair is fair; I have been asking lame

questions...

But my original

question still magically remains unresolved.

, your bait reeks.

I don't get it!

Sure, you "got" it,,the cancellation for noncompliance. (All that
matters.) This is your latest....LOL. As mopar pointed out, you can't
get away from the stench you emit!

Ok, thank you. But my logic isn't flawed, i think you misinterpreted what
I said. If the forty channels consume every frequency in the legal range,
it _logically_ doesn't make sense to have more channels because they
would have to be on other frequencies outside the legal range... That's
all i meant and thought.

But now it's been cleared up... thanks.

p.s. i went to some websites that appeared to be written by well-informed
authors, i dunno, just ones i saw on google.

Twistedhed November 25th 03 08:46 PM

It was cleared up when you were asked to provide for your claim.

yeah, no ****, it was in my immediate followup to that message when i said
it was clear. Does everyone in here run around with their cb antennas

This is the fault of that paranoid fool that calls himself Twistedhed.
What he did to you he does to everyone. You are right, he has made
this ng a mess. If he left, things would be a lot better, but he says
he won't.

Not to anyone else it's not, really,,,since you have yet to provide it.

Does everyone in here run around with their

cb antennas shoved up their asses or

something?

Not all those come in here cursing. Ring N8WWM through google for a
sampling of what happened to the last person that came in here swinging
at ghosts and cursing about all he couldn't handle or didn't like.

Everyone is a ******* to everyone else, an

Not at all. You just gotta weed out the scumbags. When you learn how to
do so, you will find the jewels to be mined are never an easy
task,,,something that bothers the lessers,,,such as those that have the
need for profanity in much of their posts.
