Question about 10 m frequencies
Why is it not OK to freeband on unused parts
of 11 and 10 meters? Organized, long term freebanders are very aware where they operate and take great measure to ensure against talking on an amateur frequency or one that isn't heavily used on the freeband. If the non-U.S. stations can operate ssb there, why shouldn't I, especially if I want to have a nice DX contact with one of them? Many of us LIKE the law as it is, it keeps "yes men" off the freqs. Same analogy as the gun issue... when guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns...no, you won't find many freebanders lobbying for change to open the freqs because the law as it reads, doesn't bug us. No rationalization is even needed except to reply to folks that repeatedly ask over and over, "Why?" It is these folks that feel they need a reason why we do what we do, not us. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Article poste via Voila News - http://www.news.voila.fr Le : Fri Feb 20 23:17:51 2004 depuis l'IP : ac8bbce3.ipt.aol.com [VIP 532284301978] |

That's enough reason NOT to mess with 10 Meters. LOL! They got another company up in Maine AND wrote a letter to FedEx as well. I know it's a troll, but it is still a good answer. snicker J Mr. Carl Leonard Ross CLR Transport 1310 Ozone Drive Saluda, NC 28773 SUBJECT: Warning Notice--Unlicensed Radio Operation Dear Mr. Ross: Information before the Commission indicates that your vehicle, US DOT # 11131374, bearing NC license LP-2598, on Interstate 85 between Gastonia and Kings Mountain, NC, was the source of unlicensed radio transmissions on the Ten Meter Amateur Radio band on July 14, 2003. Please be advised that operation of radio transmitting equipment without a license is a violation of Section 301 of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, 47 U.S.C. Section 301, and will subject the operator to fine or imprisonment, as well as an in rem seizure of any non-certified radio transmitting equipment, in cooperation with the United States Attorney for your jurisdiction. Monetary forfeitures normally range from $7,500 to $10,000. You are requested to contact me at 717-338-2502 to discuss this matter. "I Am Not George" wrote in message m... "MrTimNebo" wrote in message . ... sorry lelnad, i dont snort cocaine or anything else Not that I really expected you to admit it. It's the same as when you're bootlegging on those other HF bands. but i do knock out some mean cw on a straight key and have since i was 12 years old. And still can't get a legit Ham license. you keep working the world on the internet and thru other links provided to you and we'll keep working the world direct via the radio, antenna to antenna. You're ticked because Hams have a system like Echo-Link that you can't use and abuse like 11m when you please. You have to be a licensed Ham, something you're not. Besides CBers don't have any thing like it for two reasons, one most aren't smart enough to implement a system like that, and second many like you have no respect for rules and would end up wrecking the usefulness by your abuse of the system if there was one. Also with software like Win 2K Pro and XP Pro a feature called terminal services comes in real handy. Set up a server running terminal services with a rig control program and a VoIP app with the sound card interfaced to the speaker and mic jacks on the rig and you can have a lot of fun. Put the rig in VOX mode to work with the VoIP app and the sound card interface is simple. Then from ANYWHERE you can log in to the server, start the rig control software and the VoIP app, and now you have a nice remote base you can operate just as if you where sitting at the controls. In fact there is a complete Ham station setup this way complete with amplifier and antenna rotor control on the Internet. As and example I could sit at the computer in my office and play radio and not have to worry about where to stick the rig, antennas etc. 73 de, Leland C. However I thought about stopping by, since I was in the area, but I didn't have the address with me. I figured it would take me about an hour to drive from Oberlin to your city, if you really do live in Medina Ohio. And I have to be sure about that before I'll even bother about the drive out there. All I need is a street address, or you have a listing in the phone book so I can call information to get it. Next week I'll likely be working in Elgin Illinois, which is north west of Chicago, so it maybe a while before I'm out your way again. Oh, one more thing, what is the main course of study at Oberlin college anyway? It seems funny to have a big college in such a tiny dump of a town in the middle of nowhere like Oberlin. They have a nice park in the town center with the college buildings around it, but there isn't much of anything else in town to recommend it. -- Leland C.
