Actually it's not all dead grass, much of it is part of the living
plant and a small layer helps protect the soil from the sun and
weed infestation.

hows this, when sinking a ground rod you have to pass through a build up
of thatch which is part of the natural evolution of grass... covered it

We used a "de-Thatcher" a few years back... it was called John Major.
Well, it got rid of "Thatcher"... but it was just as bad.

Now we are hoping to find an effective de-Blair.
