Interesting! Most likely there is way too much Mic gain.
Question? Why has it been since CB started, there is a PA on them anyway, no other radio, Ham ,Marine or Aircraft had it, oh yes that's funny a pilot talking over a PA system. "DrDeath" wrote in message ... wrote in message oups.com... PowerHouse Communications wrote: wrote in message ups.com... Both the CB and the PA horn have the usual standard mini jacks on them. Trouble is, when I try to use it, all I get is a horrible piercing feedback whine when I press the mic. So either the Cobra DXIII doesn't work as a PA system, or I am missing something simple. I didn't have the speaker anywhere near the mic, so it's not like it was picking up feedback through that. That is exactly what is happening... With the unit set to PA, turn the volume on the CB all the way down to nothing, and key the mike... Bet the squeal is gone... Now turn up the volume to just where is starts to squeal, then back it down just a little. That point is as loud as you will be able to get the PA... I should have mentioned in my original post that even with the volume turned all the way down to the lowest it will go (without shutting the CB off completely) it still produces the same exact whining noise at the same ear-piercing decibel level the instant I key the mic. The volume control doesn't seem to have any effect on it whatsoever. If you have a mic gain knob, turn it down. |
