And after the Perseids, what’s next?
After spectacular 2007 Outburst, a-Aurigids shower is likely to
return to its normal level of annual activity (ZHR around 10 hr-1).
a-Aurigids peak is expected to occur August 31, at 19 UTC. Among
other minor showers, September Perseids (maximum September 9,
03 UT), daylight ?-Leonids (maximum August 25, 04 UT) and d-Aurigids
(broad maximum around september 28), are characterized by rather
low ZHR so they will unlikely be distinguishable by the sporadic

Glen ZS2GK and Phil FR5DN have made the first ever 2M VHF contact
between Reunion Island and South Africa via the South Indian Ocean.
Glenn ZS2GK reported that early this morning at 0215 SAST he heard the
FR5DN beacon from Reunion Island. The message reads: de FR5DN/b FR5DN/b

Rolf, DK2ZF, will be active from CT3 (IM12JS) on 144 MHz EME between
11st and 22nd October 2008. The flight and the house (Casa do
Lugarinho) will be booked meantime. RIG will be 4x 11el and BEKO

The OM0C Contest Crew is pleased to announce a DXpedition to PZ
Suriname (GJ25KU) The group of 5 operators will be active from
Suriname between 21st and 30st October 2008 on all HF bands (160m-10m),
and VHF (6m and 2m) with the accent on low bands, especially 160m and
EME on 2m. It will be a very first time EME 2m operation from
Suriname. Closer to the trip MMMonVHF will try to setup more

Mike, KC2SDG will be operating beachside as homecall/p from
Hatteras [aka Pea] Island (NA-067, USi NC-005S, WLOTA LH-3913,
Dare County), North Carolina, August 23-30th. QRV with Kenwood
TS-480SAT at 100W into a rotatable dipole capable of communication
on 80m, 75m, 40m, 20m, 2m, 1.25m, and 70cm. QSL via LoTW only.

28/09/2008: Rob, DK1ROB will be active from the isle of Barra
(EU-010, IOSA OH-11, SCOTIA HI-02, WW Loc. IO66GX) as MM/DK1ROB

PSK63 - sorry, no CW! Antennas planned: Inverted Vee for 40m;
5-band Spiderbeam for 20m-10m at 15m AG; 3-El beam for 6m at

Laci/HA0HW will be active as J48HW and SV8/homecall from Thasos
Island (EU-174, MIA MG-124, GIOTA NAS-037, WLOTA LH-4186, WW Loc.
KN20HS), Greece, from August 30th to September 10th. He will
operate on the HF bands (mainly on 40, 30, 20, 17 meters and
mainly CW, with some SSB, RTTY and PSK31 as well), and 6 meters.
