I just looked through the HRO catalog and don't see ANY mobiles
meeting that criteria. Looks like you would have to settle for a
dual-bander.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any 2m mobile radios that have a remote head.
It seems the only remote head radios are dualband, HF+, etc..

Just buy one radio, once. A 706MKIIG. RMK comes with it.

So it's a dual-bander. Big deal. It seems to me that the more important
issue is the remote head rather than single-band, and if that's the case
he's almost certainly into dual-bander territory. The 8100 is a

fantastic
radio, one of the few that can do cross-band repeat, and it's small too.

The reason I asked about a 2m with a remote head is because I rarely use

70cm.
I am well aware that almost every dualband has a remote head. I am not

sure why
2m radios aren't made this way. In any case, if I am going to get a

dualbander,
it's going to be a Kenwood TM-G707A.

Fair enough. Though I have the 8100, I too don't use 70cm at all, and
wonder why they don't make a single-band radio with a remote head.

I would actually consider a Motorola radio with the remote head, if I could
also get the programmer and software at a reasonable rate, but with those added
costs, it's more economical just to buy the dualbander, which also has the
added plus of being field programable and if you get something like I've
considered (Kenwood TM-G707A), you'd get a much more compact head.

If you're wanting a small control head, but feel you must settle for a
dual bander, you might look at the Yaesu FT-90. Its so small it is
actually smaller than some radios' control heads.

Might check and see which dual-banders allow you to select the band for each
"side". My Alinco DR-610 can do VHF/VHF, VHF/UHF, or UHF/UHF. The new
DR-620 can do this, also. I believe the Icom IC-2720 will, also. This way,
you'll get the advantages of TWO VHF radios in one.
