I'm not game to up the drive any further until I know the specs! Basically any specs or any info at all would be great, thanks in advance. Cheers, Let's take a wild guess here, you want to use it on the UHf Chook Band to talk into the 5 w output repeaters, if that's the case, and I do hope I'm wrong, you'd be better off with a decent antenna system, WRONG, I plan to cause havoc on the remaining analog police repeaters- ya idiot. There's more to the UHF band than CB radio you know. You better be CAREFUL as I will dob you into Simone Templar. I bet that has him wetting himself and quaking in his uggies. LOL, quite. Amazing isn't it - cannot discuss power amplifiers in these Aussie groups without the usual knee-jerk assumptions, irrespective of being perfectly within the law to own and use in an appropriate manner. Apparently no Hams here use amplifiers I guess. |

Why bother power amplifier related postings in a CB Radio group then ? state exactly what your using it for and post in the appropiare group. |

Just to **** you off, Warren. state exactly what your using it for and post in the appropiare group. No. I'm just looking for the specs. That was my query. Can you define what in your view is an "appropiare" group? IF you bothered to check the headers, you will see that the OP was sent to: aus.radio.amateur.misc, aus.radio.cb, aus.radio.scanner, rec.radio.amateur.equipment If you believe you know of more "appropiare" groups, or just wish to drop all pretence and continue developing this into an argument, please enlighten us all, cheers. |

You seem to be the one pushing for an argument, I just can't see why you would bother posting in CB and Scanner groups, have look here, http://www.eserviceinfo.com/ there is a lot of Motorola stuff there, Cheers, Warren |

You seem to be the one pushing for an argument, I just can't see why you would bother posting in CB and Scanner groups, Mate, these groups are inhabited by radio enthusiasts whose interests don't necessarily begin or end with Amateur radio, CB radio or scanning. Had I posted with robot-like compliance, I wouldn't have posted the question at all, since there is no news group for Motorola commercial equipment. I could use your same logic to not even post it to any of the amateur radio groups as well. I think you really do understand why it posted to these groups, it's just common sense. I wondered before originally posting whether I'd hear from some pedants, sure enough I did. Oh well, par for the course isn't it... Some people don't necessarily read whatever groups you feel are more appropriate, hence cross-posting to a range of radio related groups. All I was asking for were the specifications of a piece of radio equipment, nothing more. But some will never miss an opportunity, no matter how petty, to have a go at someone over the flimsiest of pretexts. have look here, http://www.eserviceinfo.com/ there is a lot of Motorola stuff there, Thanks for the link Warren, will check it out. |

Hello Jasco , I'm going to do something I don't do very often and that is apologise for jumping to conclusions, I must admit when I read your original posting I thought, here we go again, some UHf CBer wanting info on a very high powered Amp, so he can stomp on every one else, for that I do apologise, in my role as an emergency monitor I get quite a few of the power heads deliberately interfering with the emergency repeaters which I monitor daily, I have even had dead set deliberate interference during actual emergency calls and whilst in contact with the Police Comms Centre, as in, microphone in one hand and the phone in the other, the Police couldn't believe what they heard, so I tend to get a bit touchy when it comes to very high power on UHf CB. now back to the Amp, I see on the circuit board there is JAS marked in several places, I'm wondering if this is the manufactures identification, if so you might get some info from this mob, Jas Commerical Printers Products : Printed circuit boards Address : 38, Bombay Talkies Compound,, Somwari Bazar, N. B. Road, Malad West,,Mumbai-400064.Maharashtra. Send : On-Line Trade Inquiry http://www.easy2source.com/directory..._id=0&Len t=3 I ran a search on the net and came up with that mob, with a bit of luck they may be the manufactures and should have the info you require, wether the buggers will give the info is another thing , once again sorry for ****ing you off, Cheers, Warren |

The following info has nothing to do with Motorola , but I recently purchased a Philips 828 back end (25 Watt PA from 828 radio) which has been modded so as to run a hand held 2 Mtr , there was no info available with it regarding input power, and me being a silly bugger didn't think to ask the bloke I bought it from :-) ( Hamfest ), so at first I set the h/h to 5 W max, the amp output was 25W, then I set the radio to low power, 0.5 W , the output was then 20 W, so I came to the conclusion to run it at low power 0.5 W, as that would most probably be the safe input power, 5 W input only raised the output by around 5 W not worth potentially blowing the driver or something major, unless of course the driver had been changed to a more robust type ?, in your case, maybe try at 1W then say 3W and see what the output difference is , if it's only 5 or 10 W on higher input power of 3 W its probably safe to run it at 1 W input, Cheers, Warren |
