Only thing is, after assembling the kit then finding out it dosen't work
as described, they may be discouraged.

I assume you're looking for ham radio stuff...

For well designed, relatively inexpensive kits, try Small Wonder Labs...

Excellent design, quality, & performance but not cheap.

Many of the QRP clubs offer decent, inexpensive kits from time to time.

I'm sure there are others...

Any of these will likely be much better than something from Ramsey, altho
probably a bit more expensive (but worth it in the long run)...
