I will be installing a Kenwood TM-G707A dualband mobile radio in a 2000 Mercury
Sable. I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with RF affecting this car or the Ford Taurus (Same car, different name). I will be installing it with the remote mount kit. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 73! de Andy KC2SSB Beachwood, NJ USA! Grid FM29vw http://vhfradiobuff.tripod.com |

I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with RF affecting this car
or the Ford Taurus (Same car, different name). My old company car (1999 Taurus) did just fine with the Alinco DR570 and the 6M sideband rig installed, but was noisy (S4-S5). The new company vehicle (someone here likes Fords, don't know why) has quite a bit more RF noise but the NB and DSP handle it. Noise reduction mods go on the fuel pump leads this weekend. Current install is the same ole DR570 and the Yaesu FT857 for HF/6M driving the ATAS100. Neither vehicle was affected by RF from the radios, and the present Ford has never hiccupped w/100W out from the 857. Power is directly from the battery, everything is well grounded. A |

Thanks for the reply. I did bring my HT in the car and noticed quite a bit of
ignition noise, but that may be specific to the HT. As far as DSP and NB's go, the radio I'll be installing is a 2m/70cm FM rig, so those features aren't available. I have used this rig in my Hyundai Elantra for a while with no problems, even with the only "ground" being the negative wire to the negative terminal on the battery and nothing else grounded. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 73! de Andy KC2SSB Beachwood, NJ USA!
