I'm not going to followup any more after this one, except to say that
the dashes and equal signs in your posting confuse me. You must be new
to the keyboard.

However, I'm really digging my new IC-R10. Not terribly hot, nor
selective, receiving on HF, but it's nice to be able to take a hand-held
to work that lets me know if HF or 6m is "hoppin", plus for use as a
regular scanner on VHF/UHF.

That being said, since this is a radio group, I also want to say that
you should post *before* you start drinking. You sound like a very old
person with the mind of a child.

But getting back to the JFK quote, you seem to forget that the purpose
of government is to serve the people. The idea of "ask not what your
country can do for you..." is completely contrary to the concepts
espoused by the framers of the U.S. Constitution. You can compare that

It's true. RHF is the most annoying poster with the dots and dashes
and who knows what else. It's not fun to read. And I usually enjoy
his info. It's up there with all caps. You can tell by RHF's
response that it hurt.... wrung true. That's evidence enough for me
that it's on purpose. Something about getting attention. Too bad.

JFK was making a request that people volunteer their time to make this
nation and through the Peace Corps the world a better place. It was not
a demand and not against the Constitution. Trying to compare this
request to any demand Red China has made of their people under penalty
of their law is insulting to our nation and memory of a great leader.

I can count the number of times on one hand that a world leader made a
speech inspiring people to make the world a better place out of self

You have a very strange point of view. Since when are government jobs

all?

You also have a very strange point of view!
Government jobs have always been the root of welfare.

(When the public welfare was reformed then President Clinton ordered
thousands put on the federal payroll to "Employ them" Elevator operators
for the Pentagon, for automatic self serve elevators. etc.)

IE: Position paid by the taxpayers without responsibility for the outcome or
result.
Show me anyone in any government position who is held responsible for the
damage they do, or failures to perform! Never happens, or rather so
rarely it is a major news event, when was the last time you heard of a
government employee held responsible!

None of the positions listed are actually Volunteers! All are paid,
although some are called compensation. Pay, Salary = Compensation. No
difference.

There used to be volunteer fire men, and other "Public Service
positions, but not much anymore, the Unions are using these positions to
extract moneys to enhance the political position they uniquely espouse!
That THEY OWN these positions!
