George There are no contests on the WARC bands, 30M, 17M, and 12M And 30M is all CW or Data -- no phone. A DXer reported working the FT5XO Dxpedition on 30M with just three calls last night. If you are going to work CW -- get some good antennas in the CW bands. If noise is a problem on 80 or 160M, make a low noise receiving loop. -- CL -- I doubt, therefore I might be ! |
For much of the rest of the world, 40 meters is 7.000 to 7.100.
It may come as a shock to you but there are other places in the world where there are amateur radio operators and their bands do not always match up with ours -- 40 is a good example. -- ----- Joe S. "GeorgeF" wrote in message k.net... How are the rest of the CW operators dealing with all the SSB that is showing up in the 40 meter CW portion of the band? Here it is the weekend and there's some contest going on and there is more SSB in the CW portion of the band then there is SSB in the SSB portion of the band. What gives with this? On HF I'm a 99% CW operator, only been licensed about a year and love CW, don't care much for SSB. But I'm starting to wonder why I paid $1800 for a Yaesu FT-1000Mk V Field as it looks like I won't be able to use it for what I bought it for this weekend... Help George |
It may be even more of shock that ham radio operators are important
in their eyes only. Ham radio has been irrelevant for years, hams just have not realized it yet, and probably never will. "How come the young kids aren't coming into ham radio anymore."? duhhhhhhhh, anyone hear about Advanced Technology? 73, Rabbi Phil "Joe S." wrote in message ... Well sir in Southern California, in the last year or so, we have trained
about 30 school kids who obtained their license. Donations have been made to set up complete Ham stations at the schools. In our repeater club there are well over 75 members age 25 and below. At our field day, we had two troops of boy scouts who got on the radio. Several went on to get a license. Ditto for the JOTA day (if you know what that is) The kids loved PSK31 - no internet they asked. How many youths have you trained ??? Well sir when theSAN DIEGO COUNTY was ON FI CEDAR FIRE LARGEST IN STATE HISTORY 16 dead, 2,342 single family dwellings & 383,657 acres burned I repeat 16 dead, 2,342 single family dwellings & 383,657 acres burned It was a disaster of unimagined proportions. I can assure you that Amateur Radio was quite relevant -- to the tune of over 500 Amateurs participating. Won accolades from local officials and the media. Are you a member of ARES or RACES ? Are you prepared for the BIG one that will surely come your way? Well are you? When the cell phones are out, telephone lines are toast, power is lost, you will wish you had a battery operated mountain top repeater. Ours was on battery power or portable generator power for 3 days after the commercial power was lost. Do you support such a repeater, are you even a Ham? Support Amateur Radio or rely on your silly phone - the choice is yours. You need to do some research before you blather out this stereotype nonsense. -- CL -- I doubt, therefore I might be ! Like I said, learn more about the other regions, the rest of the world does not use the same bandplan as the USA (thank God for that!) VK have phone privileges on 30m. Excellent band for 600km range communications mobile, by day, which is about the distance from Sydney to Brisbane and Sydney to Melbourne. SSB from 10115 - 10140. Main calling on 10120, secondary 10125. Brad in VK |
