Default Where does the term "LID" come from?

I've heard the term "LID" used on ham radio to describe a poor
operator. Any idea where the term came from?

There are different possible explanations, just like for many
other words of "Ham Speak". AC6V has compiled a collection of
explanations on his website: http://www.ac6v.com/73.htm

73, - another mystical one!

Not likely....since the term LID was found way back during the landline rail
road Morse era, which pre-dates any sort of radio licensing.

hmmm...

They didn't have either or both back then? Licenses and/or idiots?

Wow, that is hard to imagine, a time before idiots and "control freaks!"
Amazing!
