Default Accessing UK Repeaters

Hi guys,

I've just bought a new Kenwood TH-F7E hand-held (first new radio for
over 20 years!) and can't seem to access any repeaters with it. I
gather this is because they don't use the old 1750hz tone system any
longer and have moved on to newer technology. I'm very out of date
with this stuff, to be honest, having last used repeaters (by
whistling them up) back in the early 1980s when the scene was very
much alive (as does not appear to be the case now). What do I have to
program into this thing to get into today's UHF and VHF repeaters? I'm
primarily interested in GB3OK, GB3KN and GB3CK.
Thanks,
P.

Tune to freq req. Auto repeater shift should come in.

Press button 7 til you see "T" on the screen.

Press transmit and also the "Call Button" (Bottom right) Briefly (1750) Give
a bit of waffle in case the logic is like the one up here.

Job Jobbed.

If that dont work then shout again and i'll help with CTCSS.

You propably need to use the CTCSS. The modern repeaters use this
exclusively or with an option of the 1750Hz tone. CTCSS is a sub
audible tone, one of a choice of several. The same tone is generally
used for all of the repeaters in a geographical area. Many of the
1750Hz tone repeaters still in use, use a logic which not only needs
the tone, but also need several seconds of speech to latch them open.

Its a pity ours still responds to a blip or a whistle, all day everyday,
blip open,,,,, closed,,,,,, blip open,,,,, closed.
All day long...
I have asked, hello want a chat?
go on you got a radio speak...
nowt.
Blip open,,,,,, closed.
All day long... Should turn the bugger off, have a little geezer sat with a
phone and the plug, only plugs it in after he gets a text asking, with a
call sign.
Blip open,,,, closed. All day long...
