I know someone with a maths degree who claimed that
e^(-jwt) was a function that decreased with increasing t, and cited the maths being taught to 13-year-olds as being evidence! I know someone with a degree from an 'avant-garde' university that said 'heat' is radiated in 'heat bands', and claimed as evidence that this was cited in schoolbooks!
