Amateur Radio Roundtable
History Making Webcast - Heard Island

Last week (March 22) Dr Bob Scmieder, KK6EK, from the Heard Island
Dxpedition team, was on our show. It was audio only because the team
had not reached the island and they were still on the Braveheart. The
boat was rocking and their satellite phone, needed for video, would not
lock in to the satellite. Since last week's show, they set up on the
island and their video connection has been successful.

This week (March 29) we will make ham radio history again by having Dr.
Bob Schmieder, KK6EK, and the Heard Island Dxpedition team, on our live
Tuesday night show with both audio and video. You can follow the
progress of the team at VK0EK.org. This DXpedition is in one of the
most remote locations in the world. As predicted, bad weather caused a
short delay setting up the different antennas. Rich Holoch, KY6R, is
helping coordinate our interview with the DXpedition.

Check out ARRL's press release about our coverage of the Heard Island
Dxpedition by clickinghere.

We are glad to have Skip Morris, K5FC, back with us to discuss our
experiences in ham radio over the last 50-60 years. Please join us in
this fun discussion!

Also, co-host Frank Howell, K4FMH, will be with us as we talk to Rich
Moseson, W2VU, Editor of CQ Magazine. Rich will give us a hint as to
what will be in the next issue.

Remember to send your FCC questions to Riley at for
discussion in the program. Riley is a retired FCC Special Counsel for
enforcement and brings a lot of knowledge to this area.

If you missed the March 22nd show with our historic interview of Heard
Island DXpedition you can watch it here.
