I am having trouble getting a straight answer I am hoping someone here can
help me. How do I submit my 4 band log to the ARRL and a 5th band as a checklog for the same June VHF contest? From the General Rules for ARRL Contests on Bands Above 50 MHz: http://www.arrl.org/contests/announc...rules-vhf.html 2.4.2.Limited Multioperator: Stations submit logs with a maximum of four bands used. (Logs from additional bands used, if any, should be included as checklogs.) I am trying to follow this rule, but I do not know how to accomplish the task. We will get killed in the Multi-Multi category, Limited Multi is where we want to be with our 4 bands, the other band as a checklog. Thanks for any help and 73, Matthew |

Otherwise simply submit them individually per the rules below. I.e. the four band log as one submittal and the single band log as a check log. Specifically state in your submission that the single bander is a check log. Or simply don't submit the 5th band at all. There really is no need to. The stations you contacted will still get their points even if you don't submit a log. "6.1.1. Electronic submissions in the Cabrillo format may be emailed to 6.1.2. Hand written paper logs or diskettes mailed to June VHF, ARRL, 225 Main St, Newington, CT 06111. 6.1.3. Web entries submitted via the web-based applet at: http://www.b4h.net/cabforms/ " |

![]() Call the ARRL. I was e-mailing them and they don't have an answer. Or simply don't submit the 5th band at all. There really is no need to. The stations you contacted will still get their points even if you don't submit a log. This is not true anymore, if the contact is not in both logs it is no longer counted. The log checking reposrts will show this. I was hoping the robot was smart enough to remove my 5th band if I submit as a limited multi-op station but the ARRL person said nothing in response to this question. Matthew |

Matthew Submit your 5th band after the due date. That should automatically make it a check log. Dee, N8UZE |

Try the telephone.
I will call tomorrow. Please cite that rule. I find nothing on any of the ARRL rules sites (neither contest specific nor general rules). I have submitted several logs that have results that fall into the "log checking reports" category, below is a sample from the report: *** Not In Log ('N') *** Lines beginning with the letter 'N' are judged to be 'Not In Log'. This means we have the other station's log, and your call, or a call close to it, does not appear in that log on this band. This QSO is removed from the log and an extra one qso penalty is assessed. Submit your 5th band after the due date. That should automatically make it a check log. I fear if you submit a second log at any time it will invalidate the old log. Matthew |

Hi Matt, That isn't unusual. There might be some confusion that 2 logs are needed to give out points though. In many (most) contests not everyone submits a log. The one that I have the most experience with is the PAQSO party. I estimate that 50 percent of the participants send in logs. We can see who hasn't sent in a log, because their call signs show up in a lot of logs. If an Ops log has QSO's with other Ops who submitted logs, they can be cross referenced for accuracy. If an Ops log has contacts who didn't send in a log, they are still counted. You won't be penalizing anyone if you don't send in the log. There is one exception to this: Occasionally a log will come in that has a high percentage of "uniques", who don't show up in any one else's logs. We scrutinize those logs carefully, because it just isn't very likely that that many people who just make one QSO are going to be having that single QSO with that one station. Submit your 5th band after the due date. That should automatically make it a check log. I fear if you submit a second log at any time it will invalidate the old log. Your best bet if you are concerned, is to just submit your good logs. You won't be penalizing anyone. Hope this helps. - 73 de Mike KB3EIA - |
