Default VE Testing Rules

How about this one:

I'll add it for future reference.

How's that?

That seems to be a very well thought-out list.

Possibly. The problem is that such retesting would
place a burden both on the licensees and the VE
system.

Given that there are many changes to the regulations over the course of 10
years, would it be a tremendous burden to have every ham take a small
examination covering current rules and regulations at the time of renewal?
Not being a VE I cannot say for sure, but I would think the impact would be
fairly minimal on most VE teams. In reality you're talking (on average) 5k
renewals per month spread out over the entire USA.

Actually it's quite rare. But it's certainly a lot
more common than such violations by young amateurs.

Well, I didn't mean amateurs, I was referring more to how old people seem to
get bitter with age.

He *chose* to wait all those years.

One has to wonder (if even for a brief moment) why you would purposely deny
yourself years of enjoyment.

My level of activity in ham radio varies depending on my parental
obligations. With the birth of my 3rd in '98 I found I had almost no time by
2000. Now that he is 8, I find I have more time as he begins to assert his
independence and my other two are into their teens.

As my life proceeds, I may experience various levels of active/inactivity,
but I'll always have a ham ticket to enjoy.
